The The are a pretty obscure band I guess but they managed to get their record label to give them an enormous sum of money to put together their second album, Infected. Fuck it feels good to have finished most of my uni work for this session - I listened to this album pretty much through all my accounting study to keep my spirits up. The The’s first album was the amazingly titled Soul Mining, which has that one song “Uncertain Smile”, which is definitely up there in my all-time favourites alongside “‘93 til Infinity” and “Teenage Riot”.
This album is much more upbeat, much more accessible, but still really cool. We’ve been trying to find some adult alternative for the radio station, and this pretty much ticks all the boxes - this is pop done the way it should be done. Think U2 if it wasn’t a pretentious vehicle for cunty Bono… (Plus the cover is cool, and its impossible to search for the band on iTunes, try it………..)
