So the webhost and I got into a fight and then I lost and they deleted all the music and then I went a re-registered and put it back so fuck you sitesled. What that means is there is once again music and I can once again dribble away with my self-indulgent babble (if Baz Luhrmann can, so can I). I’ll try to keep it short.
This week it’s back to 1966, Los Angeles and Burt Bacharach. Love’s debut self-entitled album might not be as fantastic as their third Forever Changes, but it’s damn close. Even Syd Barrett stole some of the guitar riff (sorry, was inspired by) from the lead single and Burt Bacharach cover My Little Red Book. Could this be the first ironic interpretation of a song? If it was I curse the band because it was their fault that now ever band needs to do a ironic cover or two (Sonic Youth with Get Into The Groove anyone?)
Still, there is a cover of Hey Joe and a track called Mushroom Clouds, plus a track about drug use, so you can see the ultra-psychedelic Forever Changes on the horizon.
