So I won’t pretend I know anything about the Meat Puppets because I don’t really but I could make it up but I think that may also be unsatisfying for both myself and yourself so instead I will take it upon myself to browse wikipedia and deliver the goods although that slightly defeats the purpose of reading this as a unique work of writing since it is available elsewhere even if it is in a slightly different and infinitely more readable tone.
The Meat Puppets were formed in 1980, but their second album, creatively entitled Meat Puppets II, was released in 1984 on the legendary SST Records label. They were originally a hardcore band (inspiration for Nirvana, Soundgarden and million more terrible imitations) but decided they were so hardcore they were not and experimented with acid rock and country jangle (the ironists here can call that cow-punk like on wikipedia, what wit, ho ho ho, ha ha ha).
They became more famous after Kurt Cobain invited them along to Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged yadda yadda yadda I got to go dinner is being served…
(Plateau is a great song, but The Whistling Song is better, sounds like Roxy Music with Jealous Guy but angrier and not as creepy as Brian Ferry but probably on more drugs and beer.)
