I was trying to think of a way to cheer up Ivana, but I ended up listening to angsty music and then learning that apparently angsty is not a word, well according to the spell-check device attached to Safari but that’s not a problem because I’m going to keep using it anyway. This week, instead of hip-hop which I have become tired of, I’ll be posting some music from The Replacements, an original punk band from Minneapolis (not the Disney TV series or that terrible film with Keanu Reeves).
The Replacements had, in my more-than-often-correct opinion, three fantastic albums (being Let It Be, Tim and Pleased To Meet Me), but never really got too much fame because their lead singer Paul Westerberg was a raging alcoholic. They also alienated fans etc etc (and recorded a live album called The Shit Hits The Fans), so it’s a wonder they aren’t the new ultra-indie phenomenon - OMG I just discovered this amazing band, they are so punk man, they match my $500 boots and Tsubi jeans (fuck me aren’t I just the BIGGEST junkie).
Listen to them before the Hopeton crowd fucks them over.
So this week, it’s Tim. The best songs, in my opinion, are Kiss Me On The Buss, Waitress In The Sky…
Paid my fare, don’t want to complain.
You get to me, you’re always out of champagne.
Treat me like a bum, don’t wear no tie,
well you ain’t nothin’ but a waitress in the sky.
…Swingin’ Party, about not fitting in with the in-crowd…
If being wrong’s a crime I’m serving forever.
If being strong’s your kind, then I need help here with this feather.
If being afraid is a crime, we’d hang side by side
at the swingin’ party down the line.
…Left of the Dial and Here Comes A Regular.

So this week at the radio station, even though the announcing of the tracks was awful, we got callers, both positive, and one even said that we blew him away with the great music, then told me that it cut into his depression… Will be presenting on 2SER 107.3fm in one month (mark it down in your diaries yo.)
Much Love
